UNIQUE CONCRETE SAWING & DRILLING SERVICES FOR YOUR PROJECTS
NOTABLE PROJECTS
A FEW WE'D LIKE TO HIGHLIGHT:

FRIENDSHIP TRAIL
The “Friendship Trail” or Gandy Boulevard Bridge in Tampa was a three-mile-long bridge, sawcut into sections and flown off by two barge mounted cranes for the American Bridge Company. This project required the full array of our bridge demolition equipment including curb saws, wire saws and flat saws. Unique to this job was the use of our new 110 HP “Super Deep Saw” pictured here. This super-charged, diesel saw can spin a 92” diameter blade performing cuts up to 41” deep allowing us to cut six to seven diaphragms per hour compared to one to two per hour using traditional methods.

JANE GREEN RETENTION DAM
Most people don’t think of dams when they picture construction in Florida, but the Jane Green Retention Dam in western Brevard posed our most challenging wire saw project to date. A recent renovation of the dam left the two sluice gates four foot above the correct elevation which caused flooding of the sensitive, protected environment. Working with the US Army Corps of Engineers, Speedy sawcut two eight-foot-wide by eight-foot-tall by forty-foot-deep openings through the solid concrete dam wall! Remarkably, the horizontal surfaces were cut to within a one-half inch tolerance over the forty-foot depth.

SKYWAY BRIDGE
The Skyway Bridge projects, phases one and two, are by far the largest single scope ventures performed by our company to date totaling over 2.5 million dollars in sawcutting, combined. Both projects, performed for FL DOT and M&J Construction, involved the reinforcement of the segmented, precast concrete piers after a container ship collision, and after the bridge was identified as a top ten terrorist target in 2009. These projects posed challenges for both equipment and operators who cored and extracted over 1,200 holes from seven to fifteen-foot-deep and 128 holes at sixty-two feet deep. These holes were drilled on working surfaces up to eighty-foot-deep within the concrete piers, in a space a little smaller than that of a typical mini-van!
